PETITION-MP Punished after Voting for Conscience and Constituents

Dear Roman,

I was absolutely amazed to see the response to our recent petition in support of MP Scott Simms. We launched it on Saturday, and come Monday we had over 8,000 signatures! That tells me this is one issue that really resonates with Canadians. We just don’t like to see people getting shafted for standing up for the rights of others. It is simply unfair and un-Canadian!

As you may know, Mr. Simms was the lone liberal MP who stood up in support of the conservative motion against the discriminatory Summer Jobs grant attestation. As a direct result of his vote, the liberal government cut his position as chairman of the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans. Along with that position, Mr. Simms also lost an $11,900 salary.

It is a real injustice, and I am encouraged to see so many Canadians responding by signing our petition.

Tell Trudeau to Stop Punishing his MPs who Oppose the Coercive “Values Test”

The Liberal Government imposed an ideological values test on Canadians seeking federal grants to hire summer students.Hundreds of community organizations that engage in non-political non-activist work (such as feeding the homeless, helping refugees, and giving kids an opportunity to go to camp) have been discriminated against and prevented from accessing this federal funding program. Many organizations have chosen not to apply rather than check a box agreeing with the Liberal Party on a set of controversial issues.

Justin Trudeau Punishes Dissent

I am also encouraged to see that another petition has been launched to address the same issue. On Monday, conservative MP Garnett Genuis, launched his own CitizenGO petition to call on the prime minister to reinstate Mr. Simms. Mr. Genuis wants to address this issue in parliament himself, and he is asking us to add our support to his petition as well.

Therefore, I am sharing with you the e-mail Mr. Genuis sent out to his constituents on Monday. (See below.) I hope that you will take the time to read it, sign his petition, and share it far and wide. This is an excellent opportunity to amplify our voice in support of Canadian values and one courageous Canadian politician – MP Scott Simms.

Thank you and God Bless.

David Cooke and the entire CitizenGO Team

From: MP Garnett Genuis

Subject: Tell Trudeau to stop punishing his MPs who oppose the coercive ‘Values Test’

Hi Friend,

I have an important update about the Canada Summer Jobs issue for you.
Last month, you’ll remember that my colleagues and I had a vote in the House of Commons about the Canada Summer Jobs ‘values test’ attestation.

After hearing from Canadians all across the country, Conservatives presented a motion “that organizations that engage in non-political non-activist work, such as feeding the homeless, helping refugees, and giving kids an opportunity to go to camp, should be able to access Canada Summer Jobs funding regardless of their private convictions and regardless of whether or not they choose to sign the application attestation.”

It turns out the imposition of an ideological values test by the Trudeau government on Canada Summer Jobs applicants has even shocked members of the prime minister’s own party. That’s why Liberal MP Scott Simms voted in favour of our motion to scrap the coercive attestation requirement.

When Liberal MP Scott Simms stood up for his constituents and voted against the attestation, he was punished.

Atlantic Canadian MP Mr. Simms was just removed from his position as chairman of the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans, forfeiting the $11,900 salary increase that comes with the role.

That’s not right.

He should not be punished for defending the fundamental freedoms of Canadians and ensuring a federal program does not become an ideological weapon of any current government.

I need your help to put some pressure on Justin Trudeau about this. Please click here to sign the petition.

Then, please take a moment to share the petition with your family, friends, and colleagues on Facebook, Twitter, and by email.

Thanks for your help,

Garnett Genuis Member of Parliament

PLEASE SHARE…WE REALLY NEED PEOPLE TO KNOW THIS!!! #17

See Liz’s video below

Another Liberal Slight of Hand to deceive the citizens of Ontario – Kathleen has slipped an Act into the Omnibus Budget that allows her to borrow up to $16 BILLION!

Is this an outright (although hidden from us) agenda that she has no intention of sticking to the $6.8 Billion deficit she originally promised??

Elizabeth Marshall

PLEASE SHARE…WE REALLY NEED PEOPLE TO KNOW THIS!!! Hey and you thought she was only going to be running a $6.8 Billion dollar deficit…so why is this in the Budget??? “SCHEDULE 21 ONTARIO LOAN…

The “Budget Bill” also amends 32 pieces of legislations, and/or creates Acts that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the Budget!!

“…such as the Labour Act in regard to Unions.  So everyone who is in a Union should be concerned, because if it can happen to ONE union, it can happen to ALL the unions” –Liz Marshall

“When I get elected, MY first Bill is going to be, ‘No More Omnibus Bills, unless it is a Budget Bill and it MUST pertain to the budget. — Liz Marshall

Northern Ontario, Ring of Fire, Places to Grow Act #16

Elizabeth Marshall

Something Different Something Way Better for Ontario…the Trillium Party of Ontario…because we want you and this province to prosper and grow…including and especially Northern Ontario! #18

“Why should we have any faith in what Government is saying when it comes to “Places to Grow”?  This is the New Demo-Progressive Con-Liberal Party (yes, they are all the same and all to blame) saying they know what’s best for you, based on Urban reports. That’s the problem!” –Liz Marshall

“We need people who are going to represent the people of this province–not from top-down, but from Grassroots-up!”

Places to Grow Act, 2005

The Places to Grow Act helps the Ontario government plan for growth in a coordinated and strategic way. It gives us the authority to:

  • designate any geographic region of the province as a growth plan area
  • develop a growth plan in consultation with local officials, stakeholders, public groups, and members of the public
  • develop growth plans in any part of Ontario

The legislation makes sure that growth plans reflect the needs, strengths and opportunities of the communities involved, and promotes growth that balances the needs of the economy with the environment.

Ring of Fire

Ontario has one of the largest mineral deposit areas in the world, and yet
nothing has been done with this ‘Ring of Fire’.

The Ring of Fire is the name given to a massive planned chromite mining and smelting development project in the mineral-rich James Bay Lowlands of Northern Ontario.

The Ring of Fire was considered “one of the largest potential mineral reserves in Ontario” with “more than 35 junior and intermediate mining and exploration companies covering an area of about “1.5 million hectares”.  Although the Ring of Fire crescent covers 5,000 square kilometres (approximately 1,930 square miles), most discoveries made by 2012 were within a small, 20 kilometres (12 mi) long strip.    Ontario’s Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry Michael Gravelle called the region “home to one of the most promising mineral development opportunities in Ontario in more than a century”

Ontario’s Woodlands

78% of the North is considered Ontario’s Woodlands and yet government is preventing the use of this resource by shutting down sawmills due to the O. Reg. 419/05: AIR POLLUTION – LOCAL AIR QUALITY, which the Ontario Bar Association says that regulation is unconstitutional, and yet government is still moving forward with it.

Growth Plan for Northern Ontario, 2011

Northern Ontario Growth Plan Area
Northern Ontario
Growth Plan Area

The Growth Plan for Northern Ontario, 2011, is a 25-year plan that was released on March 4, 2011. The Plan guides provincial decision-making and investment now and in the future.

The Growth Plan aims to strengthen the economy of the North by:

  • Diversifying the region’s traditional resource-based industries
  • Stimulating new investment and entrepreneurship
  • Nurturing new and emerging sectors with high growth potential.

The Plan’s policies are built upon six themes that each contribute to the region’s long-term sustainability and prosperity: Economy, People, Communities, Aboriginal Peoples, Infrastructure and Environment.

Windsor 420 Festival- APRIL 20-21-Privatize Cannabis Distribution

2nd Annual Epic 420/421 Festival

2nd Annual Epic 420/421 Festival updated their cover photo.

The Trillium Party leader, Bob Yaciuk,  will  be in attendance for both days of the Festival to represent the Trillium Party’s stance on Privatization of Cannabis Distribution.
The two day 420 Windsor Festival takes place in Charles Clark Square
April 20th and April 21st from 11am-11pm
Admission is only $5 or a single canned good contribution in support of local food banks.

The Trillium Party believes:

The discussion regarding whether marijuana should be legal or not is over. Now the only question is what is the most appropriate way to have it sold in Ontario.

Safety in our communities is paramount, and for this reason we believe there should be strict guidelines in place regarding locations, age requirements and security.

The Trillium Party believes the safest way to accomplish all these goals is to have the private sector be responsible for the sale of legal marijuana. Unlike the suggested method of distribution in an LCBO type of store front. We believe that smaller distributors will heed penalties for rule infractions many times over the LCBO model.  After all, have you ever heard of an LCBO losing it’s licence for selling to a minor.

 November 2017

Trillium MPP Jack MacLaren speaks on Cannabis Distribution Bill 174

Hon. Member Jack MacLaren stands up for Small Businesses in the rightful and safe distribution of Cannabis.

Mr. Jack MacLaren: The Trillium Party strongly
supports selling legal cannabis through regulated, independent
small business outlets. This will be competitive,
effective and efficient, and the lowest-cost service to
consumers.
